Brown Hartorth

Impressee: A'be (Arabe)

Name: Hartorth
Pronunciation: Harr-torr-th
Colour: Brown
Hex Colour Code: E47833
Final Size: 35' length with a wingspan of 60'

Hartorth is an average brown in length and wingspan of pale brown coloring, a slightly lighter brown on his belly and mottled hexagons slightly darker on his wingsails. His build has him set low to the ground with short, but stout legs which make him as stable on the ground as he is in the air. He is wide across the chest, almost fat and chubby if not for all the muscle that is under his tough hide. Hartorth looks like a lumbering beast in comparison to his clutchmates, maybe even to all other dragons altogether such that he may be more comparable to a wher than a dragon. It may not help that his tail is rather short and the same goes for his neck, making him all the more squat in appearance. This belies his true speed which makes him among the fastest browns in the Weyr and his pale brown hide blurs when he moves, or rather when he chooses to.

That is just the thing about Hartorth that might be especially frustrating for his poor Rider. He is either painstakingly slow or breakneck fast. Hartorth can have great patience about getting things that he wants, waiting for what might seem like ages or progressing so slowly that it appears like he might be getting nowhere at all, and these things are always very important to him. When he is not moving slowly and purposefully, he will be moving erratically and speedily from place to place and often in an attempt to beat his least favorite dragons (the boring ones) to the punch or the finish line. Unfortunately, Hartorth is often overconfident and is known to boast about his strengths to the extent that he forgets about his own weaknesses, always in a rush to prove himself the better at least verbally. He loves competition and races especially. If he is the one to propose the contest, he will surely attempt to win with speed, and if the contest is proposed to him then he will attempt to win with patience and hard work. Hartorth will never realize how his actions contradict himself, but in the long run he will always lean towards working slowly towards success through patience, determination and hard work.

After all, as Hartorth always says, "Slow and steady wins the long race."

Hatching/Impression Message:
The End of the Box Egg wastes no time. It shakes only a little bit before a loud crack resounds from it. In it's wake is a large crack and only one great heaving moment is needed to knock it open. The End of the Box Egg is effectively broken in two. A brown sits looking a bit dazed within the bottom half of the remaining shell and with a shake of his head, he jumps out and lands with a stumble.

That wasn't supposed to happen! The brown snorts angrily and rights himself. He doesn't have the time to lay about and to prove the point he lunges towards the Candidates. He jostles Melligan as he rushes through the line and comes to a stop, looking back to consider him. Is this the one? The brown regards him a moment, takes a step closer to the lad, only to dismiss him suddenly and rush quickly to the side of Arabe.

"Hartorth! You didn't have to worry! I'm the only one for you!" A'be cries out, falling down to his knees to hug the brown. "Oh, but you're right, I should see you fed too, but let's not rush… yes, yes, patience is a virtue."

Egg Name: The End of the Box Egg
Egg Description: This egg is a confusing riot of color made up of dots and dashes of every imaginable hue. It is as if a paintbox exploded all over the shell, and then the egg rolled around in the spatters until it was completely covered. It's a big egg, too, so there is a lot of surface area to distract and repel the eye. Suffice it to say, this egg is a mess!
