Blue Jakbenth

Impressee: M'kein (Malkein)

Name: Jakbenth
Pronunciation: Jack-ben-th
Colour: Blue
Hex Colour Code: cadetblue
Final Size: 36' length with a wingspan of 60.5'

Jakbenth is an extremely large dragon for his color, one of the largest blues in the Weyr. He is proportional overall, a muscular build that does not emphasize any special abilities. He can last an entire 'Fall and still fly sweep afterwards, but he is still quicker and more agile than the larger browns and bronzes. But what is more interesting about this dragon's appearance is his color, as some might initially mistaken him for a green if not for his significant size. He is of a slightly deeper shade of blue touched with a very distinct overtone of gray-green, looking much like the color of a vegetable that a little child would absolutely refuse to eat. Most of his body is a solid color, and the only pattern is present on all four legs as swirling tendrils of a darker shade of the same color that twist around the length of his legs like vines.

Jakbenth is the complete opposite of his rider, extremely lazy and always looking for the easy way out. If not prompted to do anything, he can spend an entire day simply lounging about and staring at absolutely nothing. His pasttime is sleeping, and when not doing that, he is sunbathing on a remote ledge somewhere so that no one can bother him to do anything. Fortunately when he is asked to do something, he will do it, but only after several scoldings and maybe even some yelling to get him on his feet and finally moving around. But don't expect this dragon to put much effort into his work, as he will do the bare minimum to get the job done, and that is assuming he even gets it done. If he knows that a lack of completion will not lead to trouble or punishment, then it's very possible that he might choose not to do it and simply disappear halfway through the task when you're not looking. Jakbenth is also a very gullible dragon, willing to believe anyone so long as they say something that he wants to hear. There's an easier and quicker way to chew firestone? Of course he'll try it! Unfortunately such ignorance — or extreme optimism, as he'd like to call it — often leads to more problems, and his rider will often find himself in a difficult position when trying to get Jakbenth out of a sticky situation. As far as flights go, he holds the same belief in that chasing after a green takes far too much effort, so it's not surprising if he never chases a green.

Hatching/Impression Message:
There was no flash or flaunt when the Purple Plant Egg started to tremble, gently and slowly at first, but then gradually obtaining a quicker rhythm. Cracks appeared here and there, and soon the egg had fragmented enough that one final shove from the dragon within caused it to shatter. The oddly colored hatchling tumbled out, and seemed to roll around for a few moments while trying to gain some orientation. There was some confusion as to whether the lightly colored hatchling was a green or a blue, and it seemed to take its time getting up. Glancing around, the hatchling didn't move from where it lay on the sands, instead looking imploringly at the candidates. After a few more moments without movement, the hatchling heaved a great sigh and crawled slowly forward. Halfway to the candidates, it seemed to have given up and so it started to creel piteously at the candidates. Immediately Malkein rushed forward, and helped the hatchling up. "Jakbenth, are you alright?" he asked, and then paused as if listening to an answer. Then M'kein frowned, "Too lazy? Well how do you expect to be fed if you don't walk yourself off the sands?" That seemed to convince the hatchling, and although slow to get up, eventually it got onto all fours and trudged along after his rider out to where the food was. Hunger trumped laziness, at least this time.

Egg Name: Purple Plant Egg
Egg Description: This egg is smooth and shiny, but most obviously purple. It is a darker shade of purple, seemingly brighter in the light. It is an almost yummy sort of purple, reminding you of some kind of vegetable that goes well with breadcrumbs and cheese, maybe a bit of wherry on the side, oh so good! It is of an average size and is best found laying on its side in a shallow wallow of sand. It has a very wide base and narrows gently at the top where the point is nicely rounded over.
